The Centereach Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house on fire with occupants and animals trapped at 74 Elliot Avenue in Lake Grove. Units arrived to find smoke pushing from the upper level of a two story wood frame private dwelling. 2 lines were stretched, while crews removed a number of animals and one of the occupants from the house. The fire was quickly extinguished and fire was confined to the upper level. Overhaul was extensive and arduous due to hoarding conditions within the house. There were no injuries. Robert Corely, Chief of the Centereach Fire Department was the OIC. Mutual aid was provided at the scene from Stony Brook and Selden FDs. The Ronkonkoma FD sent an engine to cover at CFD.
