1657 hours. While the Smithtown Fire Department was operating at a near drowning and a motor vehicle crash with a car fire, they were tapped out for a second crash and fire in front of 839 Townline Road. The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to cover the call. Units arrived to find that a GMC Yukon had left the roadway, striking a tree on the north side of the street and catching fire. While FD units were en-route, two Hauppauge firefighters were flagged down and were able to extricate the unconscious driver. The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Cudos to Hauppauge Firefighters Steve Matteo and Lieutenant Shaun Mooney for a job well done.
