December 8, 2022. 1455 hours. The Ronkonkoma, Lakeland, Nesconset and Farmingville Fire Departments are dispatched to a report of a house on fire at 5060 Express Drive South. Units arrive to find heavy fire in a two story wood frame private dwelling. Centereach sent a RIT, Holtsville sent an engine and Holbrook sent an engine. The main body of fire on the first and second floors was knocked down within 20 minutes by crews using three hand lines. Crews had to deal with hoarding conditions within the building but all searches were complete and negative by 1530 hours. a number of cats and at least one dog died in the fire. The Hauppauge Fire Department sent an engine to cover for the duration of the fire. Fire Marshals from the Town of Brookhaven are handling the investigation with Suffolk Arson Detectives.
