October 8, 2001. 93 Wichard Blvd. Fire reported at 0339 hours. Tom Duckham was 3rd Assistant Chief and the OIC. When he arrived, he had fire showing out of a bedroom window on the upper level of the house. Eight occupants evacuated from the home prior to the arrival of the FD. Two of the occupants were burned and suffered smoke inhalation. Both were transported by ambulance. Commack and Kings Park FD sent units to the scene. St. James sent an engine to cover.
2 hand lines were stretched and operated. The fire was placed under control within an hour. Smithtown Fire Marshals and Suffolk Arson Detectives handled the investigation.
