St. James-Fire destroys the M.E. Church

October 14, 1897. Early this morning the Methodist Church at St. James was totally destroyed by fire. Efforts to save building and contents were futile, and all were consumed. Loss about $5,000; partly insured. The fire was clearly the work of an incendiary.

Dedication was on Saturday October 4, 1898.
