July 26th, 2021 1045AM, the Greenlawn Fire Dept was dispatched to a report of a house fire at 11 North Lane. Assistant Chief Pace arrived on scene and was met with visible smoke from the house. All occupants had already evacuated. Crews made entry and after a quick search the fire was located in the basement. fire was found in the basement. Crews initially pushed into the house with hand lines but were unable to make the basement due to hoarding conditions. Crews pulled back and worked the fire from the exterior. Multiple hand lines operated along with master streams from Greenlawn’s ladder and Dix Hills FD ladder. Firefighters ultimately removed portions of the exterior wall of the house to access and extinguish the main body of fire. Greenlawn was assisted with this fire by the Huntington, Huntington Manor, Melville, Centerport, Halesite, Commack, Dix Hills, East Northport, Northport, Eatons Neck, Kings Park, Cold Spring Harbor and the Syosset Fire Departments as well as Commack Ambulance and Huntington Community First Aid Quad. It took over five hours to completely extinguish the fire and complete overhaul. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Departments Arson Squad.
