Smithtown FD-Commerical buildings destroyed on Terry Road

October 27, 1989. Multiple buildings formerly owned and operated by Municipal Machinery were torched. Buildings were vacant and were on land purchased by DiCanio Organization. Almost all of the buildings on the DiCanio Property were torched while vacant. The land is now part of the Avalon Community. This call was reported at 0025 hours as a brush fire. Brush 8 arrived to find heavy fire in multiple buildings. Numerous units from Hauppauge and Kings Park went to the scene and Commack sent an engine to cover at Smithtown FD HQ. Fire brought under control within 2 hours.
