Kings Park FD-Fire at the KPPC

NOvember 9, 2000. This was the first of 3 fires in vacant buildings on the property. Prior to this fire, there had not been a fire on the State hospital grounds in 5 years. This fire was reported at 1330 hours. This was originally reported as a brush fire but when units arrived, they found one of the doctors cottages fully involved. Andrew Menzies was Chief of Department and the OIC. Simultaneous to this, 3 boats were found to be burning behind a storage garage to the rear of the old KPPC firehouse. That building was also fully involved. Kings Park, Smithtown and Commack FDs operated at the scene while East Northport FD covered.
