Smithtown FD-Fire at the OBI North

November 22, 1982. Fire reported at 2300 hours. Assistant Chief Tom Buffa was the incident commander. Fire in vacant OBI North building. Smithtown, Kings Park, St. James and Hauppauge FDs on scene. This was one of a number of fires in buildings on this property. Took 4 hours to bring under control. At the time of this fire, the building had been closed for a little more than a year. 11-23-1982 Newsday
