December 20, 2020. FD is dispatched to this location in regard to an odor of smoke in a house on the Windell Estate at the north end of Spring Hollow. Units arrive to find fire in a wall behind a fireplace and behind a water heater and oil burner. Crews had to remove the boiler and water heater to open the wall to extinguish the fire. This building was a barn that was constructed in the 1800s and was then converted to a house in the late 1900s. Damage confined to the area behind the fire place. Mutual aid was provided by Smithtown, St. James and Nesconset. Chris Knott was Chief of Dept and the OIC.
