Fire Marshals raid topless club in Nesconset

January 10, 1988. Suffolk Police and Smithtown Fire Marshals raided a topless club at 762 Route 347 in Nesconset late today. During the investigation, Fire Marshals find dozens of fire code violations and issue over 100 summonses to the owner of the “Centerfold Lounge.” The owner of the establishment Peter Sofia was arrested for all of the violations found during the raid.

The Centerfold Lounge was a topless club, that was eventually closed for good. It is currently 3rd Generation Auto Body on the South side of Route 347.

From the local newspaper:
A bar featuring “exotic” dancers has been shut down by Town of Smithtown Fire Marshals. Patrick Vecchio, town supervisor, said The Centerfold Lounge on Route 347 in Nesconset was re-inspected Thursday, after having been cited for more than 100 safety violations, and found to be an “unsafe structure and a fire hazard.” He said no one would be allowed to enter the bar, which features what are billed as “exotic” female dancers, until it passes a re-inspection.
