December 23, 2022. 0455 hours. High winds from the passing storm took down the utility pole in front of the firehouse at 855 Wheeler Road. This pole had multiple transformers along with communication cables. Fire Marshal Gottlieb, attempted to flag down an approaching car traveling North on Rt 111 (Wheeler Rd) but the vehicle swerved to avoid the pole across the roadway and instead ran into the main water supply for our District offices before hitting another utility pole. The occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital by Lakeland FD Ambulance and CI Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance. The firehouse has backup power so they remained fully operational.
