December 31, 2022 at 2302 hours. The Smithtown Fire Department is dispatched to 25 South Avenue in regard to a report of a house hit by lightning and fire in the rear. Units arrive to find fire in the boiler room of an abandoned single story residential dwelling. The fire was extinguished without incident and all units were back in service just before midnight. There were no injuries. Nissequogue sent an engine to cover and Commack sent a ladder.
