Hauppauge FD-Vehicle fire at Veterans Highway at Lincoln Blvd

On April 21st 2010 at 1859 hours, the Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a report of a truck fire at Veterans Memorial Highway and Lincoln Boulevard. A 1987 Rack Style landscaping truck was found to be heavily involved. Engines 3-8-14,3-8-4, 3-8-11 and their crews were utilized to suppress the fire. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 and Fire Police assisted the Suffolk County Police with traffic control. Chief of Department Raymond Germaine aided by Assistant Chief Eugene Oliver supervised operations. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is believed to be due to a mechanical failure and is accidental. All units were in services as of 1931 hrs.
