January 28, 2023 2306 hours. The Stony Brook and Setauket Fire Departments respond to multiple calls reporting a fire in a multiple dwelling near 156 Strathmore Gate Drive in the Stony Brook Fire District. FD personnel arrive to find an active fire within that unit. Mutual aid requested from St. James (engine), Nesconset (Ladder), Smithtown (Ambulance) and Ronkonkoma (RIT). Two lines were stretched and operated and the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. One civilian, who had been removed by a Suffolk police officer prior to the arrival of the FD was transported to the hospital with burns. The fire resulted in damage to three units within the building. All units cleared from the scene by 0010 hours. Fire Marshals from the Town of Brookhaven are handling the fire investigation.
