January 29, 2023 1441 hours. The Centereach Fire Department is dispatched to the Smith Haven Mall for a vehicle on fire in the Macys Parking lot. Units arrive to find an involved auto on the south side of Macys. Firefighters quickly extinguished the burning Hyundai, confining the fire to the engine compartment. Chief of Department Feola and Assistant Chief Losquadro operated with engines 2 and 6 as well as Fire Police. There were no injuries but a vehicle parked next to the fire sustained minor damage. The Lake Grove Fire Marshals Office was on scene and is investigating. Photos by Lou Scannon
