Hauppauge FD-Former member Anthony Longbucco passes

Anthony Rocco Longbucco, 63, passed away September 27th, 2019 with his family by his side at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

Anthony was born in Yonkers, NY and grew up in Hauppauge, NY with his father Anthony, his mother Ethel, and his sister Arlene. He has lived in Burdett, NY (Schuyler County) for the last 35 years.

Anthony worked for New York State as a public safety officer for Rockland Psychiatric Center, Willard Psychiatric Center, and Elmira Psychiatric Center. Anthony met his wife and soulmate Deborah, also a NYS Public Safety Officer, at training. The couple married on October 1st, 1983. Anthony is survived by his wife, their two daughters Anna (Corey) Stone and Veronica (Oscar) Mintegui, and his three grandsons Rocco Anthony, Oscar Luca, and Maxwell Francis. Anthony was also survived by his mother-in-law, Lilya Kohl-Bennett. 

Anthony proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter from the age of 16. He served as a member of the Hauppauge Fire Department before serving 35 years as a member of the Burdett Fire Department. Anthony also volunteered as an EMT for Schuyler Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He drove for Elmira Heights Fire Department and Greater Valley Ambulance.

Anthony was a dedicated father and husband. He was a selfless friend and is often remembered for his kindness in difficult situations. He proudly risked his life for strangers, running into danger as others ran away. Anthony was a always there with warm hug and a loud laugh.

The family held a celebration of life on October 5th 2019, 2:00PM to 7:00PM with a brief memorial service at 3:00PM at the Burdett Fire Department.
