February 8, 2023, 1022 hours. The Lakeland Fire Department is dispatched to 216 Fir Grove Road in regard to a house fire. Units arrive to find a kitchen fire on ground level with extension to the second floor and attic. Crews had three lines stretched and water on the fire by within 12 minutes of activation and the fire was knocked down by 1102 hours. The fire was placed under control at 1112 hours and all FD units begin clearing from the scene at 1130 hours. Three dogs perished in the fire.
Mutual aid provided by Holtsville, Central Islip, Hauppauge, Nesconset and the Ronkonkoma Fire Departments. EMS assistance was provided by Sayville Ambulance and CI-Hauppauge Ambulance.
