March 3, 2023, 1513 hours. The Centereach Fire Department responds to 4 Donwood Avenue in regard to a reported house on fire. Multiple firefighters who live in the area quickly notified dispatch that this was a working fire. Units arrived, stretched lines and went to work. The fire was quickly knocked down by crews from Centereach, Selden and Setauket Fire Departments. Firefighters located and removed an unconscious dog from the house. After treatment at the scene, the dog was transported to the Selden animal hospital. The Nesconset and Ronkonkoma Fire Departments also sent units.
There were no injuries and fire is being investigated by Brookhaven Town Fire Marshals.
