March 8, 2023, 2239 hours. A 63 year old male was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on Veterans Highway Suffolk Police say that Julio Monteiro, of Valley Stream, was walking south on the highway just east of Jericho Turnpike at approximately when he was struck by a Kia Soul, police said. That driver remained on scene and was not injured.
The victim was transported and was pronounced dead at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, police said.
