Central Islip FD-House fire on Palm Street

March 29, 2023, 1450 hours. The Central Islip Fire Department was alerted for a structure fire at 7 Palm Street. 1st Assistant Chief Vinnie Plotino arrived to find a two story residential home with heavy fire showing from the front of the structure and transmitted a working fire. The first due engine deployed their deck gun while members stretched numerous hand lines. Mutual aid was requested from the East Brentwood, Brentwood, Bohemia, Lakeland, Islip, East Islip, Islip Terrace and Hauppauge Fire Departments. Central Islip/Hauppauge Ambulance had numerous units on scene. Additional EMS was requested from Commack Ambulance, Bay Shore/Brightwaters Ambulance, Exchange Ambulance of the Islip’s and Brentwood Legion Ambulance. The fire was placed under control within 90 minutes. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with burns. There were no civilian injuries. A vehicle parked in the driveway was also destroyed. Suffolk Arson and Islip Town Fire Marshals are investigating. The last unit was back in service by 1730 hours. All photos courtesy of Ken Bradbury.
