May 16th, 2023, 1426 hours. The Centereach, Nesconset, Farmingville, Ronkonkoma, Setauket, Stony Brook and Selden Fire Departments were activated for a telephone alarm reporting a structure fire at 10 Smith Lane off of Middle Country Road in Centereach. The dispatcher then received a call from the alarm company monitoring the premise, reporting multiple detector activations within. Assistant Chief Losquadro arrived and advised that he had a fire within a garage attached to single family dwelling. Two lines were stretched and one operated. The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes and under control was transmitted within an hour. There were no injuries. Brookhaven Town Fire Marshals are handling the investigation.
