May 30, 2023, 1806 hours. The Nesconset Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a brush fire on Forest Avenue between Magnolia and Lindell on the Lake Grove border. Units arrive to find a large area of bamboo and brush burning and threatening a structure. Brush Truck 4-4-8 arrived on scene and crews stretched three booster lines to start knocking down the flames. Engine 4-4-2 arrived on scene and firefighters stretched an 1-3/4” hand line. As the fire suppression was underway, a quick search of the structure was performed to ensure it was empty and that there was no fire inside. Tower Ladder 4-4-7 responded to the scene and assisted with wetting down the trees and the large area that burned. There were no injuries. Crews cleared from the scene at 1913 hours.
