Central Islip FD-Outside fire on Date Street

May 30, 2023, 1351 hours. The Central Islip Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a tent fire on Cone Avenue. Units arrive to find a fire involving brush, a propane tank, aerosol containers, appliances and other debris to the rear of 32 Date Street. One line was stretched and operated and the fire was extinguished without incident. The Central Islip Fire Department Fire Marshal and Islip Town Fire Marshals respond and handle the investigation and follow up. Islip Town Code Enforcement was also contacted due to a subject living in a camper in the street and for an obstructed fire hydrant.

While operating at this incident, CIFD was dispatched to a report of a fire at the Panaderia Victoria Bakery at 1645 Islip Avenue. Crews arrived to find an electrical fire in an enclosed ceiling area. Crews opened the area up and terminated power to the electrical equipment involved. Islip Town Fire Marshals and the CI Fire Department Fire Marshal respond to that incident as well. The bakery was able to reopen later in the day. Bill Hilton photos.
