Central Islip FD-House fire on Story Avenue

January 28, 2014, 1110 hours. The Central Islip Fire Department responded to a report of a house on fire at 43 Story Avenue. Fire Marshal Christopher Pross was first on scene and reported heavy fire showing from a single story private dwelling. Chief of Department Kevin J. McAteer Jr. arrived and established command. Engine One arrived on scene and stretched on the fire. Due to the cold temperatures Engine One had a difficult time securing a water supply as a number of hydrants were frozen and one was broken. Once the water supply was established the aggressive attack continued. Mutual Aid was provided by the Islip, Islip Terrace, East Islip, Hauppauge and the Brentwood Fire Departments. MacArthur Airport was also requested for a tanker. Central Islip Hauppuage Community Ambulance was on scene and transported one injured firefighter. Chief McAteer released all units on scene at 1351 hours. Suffolk Arson Detectives are investigating.

Central Islip responds back to this location on 1/29/2014 for another working fire in this house. See the story on that date.
