Central Islip FD-House fire on Brightside Ave

August 2, 2008, 0449 hours. The Central Islip Fire Department responds to a reported structure fire on the corner of Brightside Avenue and Acorn Avenue. First responding unit 3-7-32 was advised by dispatch that Suffolk County Police were on scene reporting a working fire. 3-7-31 and 3-7-33 were also en-route at this time. Upon arriving on scene 3-7-31 established command on the Brightside Avenue side and directed unit 3-7-1 to lay in to the scene. First due truck 3-7-5 set up for a tower ladder operation on Acorn Ave. Unit 3-7-4 picked up the hydrant and fed 3-7-1. Units 3-7-3 and 3-7-6 were also on scene for manpower. Due to the heavy volume of fire the department executed successful surround and drown attack. The Brentwood fire department was requested for a Rapid Intervention Team as well as the Islip Terrace Fire Department for one engine to standby at C.I.F.D. Headquarters. Suffolk Arson is handling the investigation.
