Lakeland FD-Fire in a commercial building on Union Parkway

August 15, 2019 The Lakeland Fire Department is activated for an automatic fire alarm at the Lee Phillips Packaging Company, 750 Union Parkway off Lakeland Avenue.

Responding units were advised that Suffolk Police were on scene reporting an active alarm and smoke pushing from a large commercial building. FD personnel arrived shortly thereafter and transmitted a working fire with active fire in the loading dock area of a 100X100 structure.

Crews tied into the sprinkler system, which was operating and entered the building with multiple hand lines. The fire was quickly extinguished. Mutual aid was requested from Ronkonkoma FIre Department for an engine, Holbrook Fire Department for a ladder and Nesconset Fire Department for a RIT. Bohemia Fire Department sent an engine to cover but they were diverted to the scene. Central Islip Hauppauge Ambulance sent a bus, Community Ambulance also sent a bus. The Hauppauge Fire Department sent an engine to cover and the Holtsville Fire Department was requested to send an ambulance to cover.

Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Islip Town Fire Marshals are investigating. There were no injuries.
