August 12, 2019 Suffolk County Police today arrested a Selden teen for Driving While Intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident following two car crashes, one which seriously injured a pedestrian.
According to police, Christina Burns slept at the home of Francis Rogalle, located at 22 Ashford Drive in Bohemia, after attending a party at his residence on Saturday evening. She left the home at approximately 6:50AM on Sunday morning driving a 2005 Nissan Altima and, while traveling on Ashford Drive, left the roadway, struck a mailbox and drove across a lawn before striking Che Yeung, who was walking in the street. Burns fled the scene in her vehicle.
Approximately thirty minutes later, Burns was involved in a second crash, this one at the intersection of Route 347 and Route 25 in Nesconset. Fourth Precinct officers charged her with Driving While Intoxicated. While investigating, alert Fourth Precinct officers realized that Burns’ vehicle had more damage than sustained in the Nesconset crash. Fifth Squad detectives were notified and she was linked to the earlier incident. Burns was subsequently charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Physical Injury.
Yeung, 80, of 54 Westminster Drive in Bohemia, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she is in critical condition.
Rogalle, 50, was charged with violating Suffolk County’s Social Host Law. Burns, 17, of 14 John Street, will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 12.
The Nissan was impounded as evidence.
