July 30, 2019 0519 hours. Setauket FIre Department tis activated for an automatic alarm in Marios restaurant at 212 Main Street (a block east of their fire headquarters). A second call shortly thereafter from someone on scene reports that smoke and flames are visible. Units arrive, make entry and quickly knock down a fire in the kitchen. While opening up, they find fire in the cockloft. Crews had difficulty exposing the fire due to multiple ceilings in the building. Thanks to their aggressive work the shopping center was saved. The fire was placed under control at 0817 and the incident commander began releasing units at approximately 0845. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries, two were transported to Stony Brook Hospital. Brookhaven Town Fire Marshals are handling the investigation.
