Stony Brook FD-house fire on Sand Street

June 30. 2019 1423 hours. Stony Brook Fire Department responds to a report of a house fire at 12 Sand Street. Units arrive to find an active fire within a two story private dwelling. Mutual aid requested from Centereach for a RIT, Setauket for an engine and St. James for a ladder. Crews stretched in and all fire was extinguished by 1510 hours. A major rain and wind storm rolled through the area during this fire, resulting in a water rescue at Sand Street Beach.
