August 20, 2023, 1810 hours. The Deer Park Fire Department was dispatched on multiple calls of a structure fire at the Maple Crest Garden Apartments located at 433 Baldwin Path. Arriving units encountered flames blowing out the windows of a ground level apartment and transmitted a working fire. While crews went to work, mutual aid was requested from the North Babylon, Babylon, Dix Hills, West Islip, West Babylon, Brentwood, Wyandanch, Lindenhurst, Commack, Bay Shore andMelville Fire Departments. Crews had issues with a number of fire hydrants so extended hose lays were required. Crews operated multiple lines and at least one tower ladder. The fire was brought under control within 2 hours.
