August 26, 2023, 2109 hours. The Commack Fire Department was dispatched to a report of boxes burning to the rear of Walmart at 85 Crooked Hill Road. A standby crew from the Smithtown Fire Department was in Commack’s quarters and handled the alarm as Commack was offline for their annual picnic.
Firefighters arrived to find baled cardboard burning to the rear of the building. The fire was extinguished without incident and there was no threat or damage to the building.
