September 15, 2023, 2334 hours. The Kings Park Fire Department is dispatched to the State Hospital in regard to a report of a fire in one of the vacant doctor’s houses (building 100). Units arrive to find the building, which is right off St. Johnland Road, on land that is now owned by the Kings Park Fire District, fully involved. Kings Park was assisted by the Commack, Smithtown and Northport Fire Departments. Kings Park returned to the scene just before 11AM due to a rekindle. At that time, they requested a response from Town of Smithtown payloader to knock the remains of the building down so that they could fully extinguish the fire. Since this fire is on Kings Park Fire District property, the fire is being investigated by Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown and Suffolk Arson Detectives.
