October 27, 2023, 0315 hours. The Central Islip Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire at 31 2nd Place. Assistant Chief Vereline was on scene within three minutes, encountered fire venting from the second floor and transmitted a working fire. Firefighters stretched two lines off the first due engine, 3-7-3. Crews made quick work of the fire, confining it to a bedroom in the ¾ corner and the attic right above. All visible fire was knocked down by 0333 and Chief of Department Zaleski placed the fire under control at 0356 hours. The Hauppauge Fire Department sent an engine and Commack Ambulance sent a bus to assist CIHVAC at the scene. There were no injuries.
Suffolk Arson is handling the investigation as a matter of routine.
