November 3, 2023, 1738 hours. The Nesconset, Ronkonkoma, St. James and Lakeland Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a fire in the elevator shaft with a subject trapped within. Units arrive to find smoke in the building. The subject was quickly removed from the elevator and the fire, which was isolated to the elevator control unit was extinguished. Firefighters ventilated the building and evaluated the occupants for any injuries. Firefighters cleared from the scene by 1900 hours. The Smithtown Fire Marshals Office is investigating.
