November. 12, 2023, 1211 hours, The Brentwood Fire Department is dispatched to a report of an odor of smoke at 113 American Blvd off Aljan Drive. Units arrive to find smoke pushing from a two story private dwelling. A working fire is transmitted, bringing mutual aid from the Islip Fire Department for a RIT, Central Islip for an engine and the Bay Shore Fire Department for a truck. Fire was in the basement and on the ground level of a two story occupied dwelling. The main body of fire was knocked down within 15 minutes. East Brentwood ambulance and Brentwood Legion Ambulance were on scene and one subject was treated for smoke inhalation. Suffolk Arson Detectives are investigating. Ken Bradbury photos.
