November 17, 2023, 2320 hours. The Smithtown Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a house on fire at 57 Brooksite Drive. Units arrive to find fire in the exterior rear, which extension up the wall of the two story house and into the attic space. Firefighters from Smithtown, Hauppauge, Commack, Kings Park and Nesconset Fire Departments battled the blaze, which was placed under control within an hour. Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries. Stony Brook Fire Department, and Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance and Commack Ambulance sent rigs and the St. James Fire Department sent a ladder to cover. Smithtown Fire Marshals are handling the investigation into the cause of the fire.
