February 9, 2013. 200 Landing Avenue. At approximately 1630 hours, the Smithtown Fire Department was dispatched to this location in regard to a roof collapse. The building was closed at the time of the incident. The building was built in the 1960s and has a bow string truss roof. Three sections, or about 100 feet of roof collapsed under the weight of a heavy snow load dropped by Winter storm Nemo. The bowling alley was closed because of the storm, so nobody was inside or injured. The collapse broke several sprinkler pipes, which caused water to flow onto the nearby LIRR train tracks. Trains were not running on this section of the Port Jefferson branch because of the storm, so service was not affected. There was also a gas leak caused by the collapse, but National Grid responded out and shut the gas off. Electricity has been cut to the building as well. Smithtown Fire Marshals, the Smithtown Bldg Dept and SCPD respond to the scene. The bowling alley remains closed for almost a year. The bowling alley shutdown for good in 2021.
