Commack FD-Man killed in sump cave in

February 18, 1960 Vito Inzone, a laborer for the Kings Park Construction Company was killed when a sump under construction in the Valmont Homes section of town, collapsed. The incident was reported at 1205 hours. Commack FD and Suffolk Police respond to the scene and administered oxygen once the victims head was uncovered. Last rites were administered at the scene by Reverend Shanehand. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. J. Lynch. His body was removed to Brookhaven Hospital. The Valmont Homes section of Commack is between Valmont Park and Hoyt Farm Park. Smithtown News 2-18-1960.
