January 19, 2023, 1500 hours. The Central Islip and East Brentwood Fire Departments provided a water curtain during phase two of the demolition of the former Computer Associates building on Motor Parkway in Islandia. The fire departments utilized their ladder trucks in the bitter cold, along with numerous trailer mounted water cannons in an effort to minimize the dust cloud that formed when the west side of the building was demolished. Firefighters were on scene from 1300-1530 hours, although the actual demolition only took 10 minutes. Central Islip-Hauppauge was on scene with multiple ambulances and East Brentwood brought their ambulance as well.
The final section of the six story main building is slated to come down within the next 3 weeks. Eight warehouses will be constructed on the site.
