2358 hours. The Bayville Fire Department (in Nassau County) responds to a working house fire at 300 Centre Island Road in Centre Island. With heavy fire showing in much of the large two story private dwelling, mutual aid was requested from numerous Nassau County Fire Departments including but not limited to Oyster Bay, Locust Valley as well as for the 4400 gallon tanker from the Nissequogue Fire Department. 4-5-4 responds to the scene and operates for approximately 2 ½ hours. Firefighters from numerous departments operated for hours. Bayville even pressed their fire boat into service to help battle this wind driven blaze. Firefighters recovered the body of an adult male from within the building. Nissequogue was released and back in quarters by 0400 hours.
