Commack FD-Report of a plane crash on Jericho Turnpike turns out to be an explosion.

December 24, 1982 0053 hours. The Dix Hills Fire Department is dispatched on multiple calls reporting a airplane crash on Jericho Turnpike. None of the calls were specific due to dense fog in the area. Crews traveled up and down Jericho until they located the fire at the Suzuki Motorcycle dealership on Jericho Turnpike in Commack Fire District. Chief of Department Meuser had command and operated with Dix Hills and East Northport (Snorkel) This was actually a natural gas explosion that leveled the building. Numerous master streams operated and crews finally secured from the scene at 0455 hours.
