August 30, 2018 2253 hours. The Hauppauge Fire Department and Central Islip Hauppauge Ambulance are dispatched to a report of a traffic collision on the Long Island Expressway. Arriving units find a crash involving a seriously injured motorcyclist in the eastbound lanes between exits 56 and 57. The motorcyclist was transported via police helicopter from the scene to Stony Brook Hospital. The LIE was closed eastbound for quite some time for the police investigation. Bryan Lopez photo.
