Smithtown FD-Fire at the Community Market on Terry Road

March 9, 1992 Fire reported at 0400 hours in what is now Panico’s market-286 Terry Road. Simultaneous to this, a 30 yard dumpster filled with wood and debris was torched at 60 Terry Road and another dumpster on Caroline Avenue was set ablaze. These are three fires related to the firefighter arson spree. Charles Markus, owner of the building stated that damage from the fire occurred towards the back of the store where a small shed was abutting the main section of the building. Damage estimated by Richard Panico at $150K.
