Commack FD-Another fire at Uncle Henry’s Restaurant

March 23, 1992 0040 hours. Commack FD is activated for a fire at Uncle Henrys Smorgasbord on Jericho Turnpike. Chief Frank Caputo was first to arrive and found fire throughout what was left of the building (Building sustained extensive damage in a fire on April 17, 1990). Engine 2-11-2 was first due. The Chauffer took a position in front of the building, and the crew deployed their deck gun and strecthed lines off the rig. The ladder was next in and the chauffer positionined in the parking lot on the west side of the building. The fire was knocked down and placed under control within 25 minutes. CVAC stood by at the scene and East Northport FD sent an engine to cover. Smithtown Fire Marshals and Suffolk Police Arson Detectives handled the investigation. The building was a total loss.
