Smithtown FD-Former Chief Emil Jund Passes

April 1, 1986 Emil J Jund died at his home in Barnegat, New Jersey. Before retiring, he owned Emils Auto Body in Smithtown. He was a member of Tiger Hose Company 1 in Fairview NJ from 1942-1947. He joined the Smithtown Fire Department on December 29, 1947, serving as Captain of the Hook and Ladder Company from 1959-61. He was Chief of Department from 1965-1967 and was named Fireman of the year in 1983. Jund went honorary inactive in 1984.
Jund is survived by his wife Dora and his brother Warren of Florida. He was predeceased by his daugher Barbara Ann Firematic services were held on April 4-6, 1986 at O.R. Davis. Father Dan officiated. He is buried in St. Patricks Cemetary in Hauppauge.
