Central Islip FD-House fire on Church Street

December 16, 2017, 2239 hours. The Central Islip Fire Department is dispatched to a reported house fire at 2 Church Street. Units arrive to find heavy fire throughout a vacant private dwelling. As this is the 3rd fire at this abandoned location, crews setup a defensive operation.  The house was destroyed. Mutual aid requested from Brentwood for an engine and Hauppauge for a RIT. The Sayville Fire Department was covering Hauppauge with a truck so they took in the job. FD units cleared from the scene at approximately 0030 hours. Suffolk Police Arson Detectives are handling the investigation.
