April 10, 1949 Fire in the walls of a house occupied by the De Guzman family on Horse Race Lane. At the time of the fire, the De Guzman’s were having a costume party. When the fire department arrived, all of the costumed guests had already formed a bucket brigade and were controlling the fire. Firefighters took over and extinguished the blaze. Mr. De Guzman reported a barn fire on this street on April 21st (just over a week from now). That story is on that date. Smithtown News 4-14-1949.
