Smithtown FD-House fire on Stony Hill Path

February 22, 2015 0128 hours a fire was discovered in an occupied wood frame single-family residence at 91 Stony Hill Path. The weather at the time was cold with freezing rain. The temperature was approximately 31 degrees. Units from the Smithtown Fire Department arrived to find an active fire in the rear of the building. The incident commander, Timothy Murphy, First Assistant Chief of Department operated at the scene with units from his Department. The Kings Park Fire Department sent an engine to Smithtown FD headquarters to cover the district for the duration of the incident. Crews stretched and operated an handline in the rear yard with other FD personnel handled ventilation, search and overhaul operations. The house was occupied at the time of the fire and the lone occupant escaped without injury.
