St. James FD-House fire on Highland Avenue

April 22, 1946 Fire reported in the morning at the residence of Mr. Richard Platt. Fire starts in a bedroom on the second floor and is discovered by Mrs. Platt. She sees a desk and the bed burning and immediately summons the FD. Captain Hewitt of the Head of the Harbor Police Department is a neighbor and is first to arrive. He and Mrs. Platt use buckets of water to hold the fire in check while waiting for the FD. In the process, Mrs. Platt is burned.
